Material Artist (Star Atlas)

We are hiring for a new AAA sci-fi project we are working on - Star Atlas. Star Atlas is a virtual gaming metaverse based in the year 2620: next-generation real-time graphics technology, using Unreal Engine 5, including Nanite for cinema-quality models and Lumen for real-time global illumination. World-class Concept Artists are already working on Star Atlas. If you are keen on materials creation and would like to be a part of a great team, we are waiting for you!

For which tasks (responsibilities)?

• Produce benchmark materials using Substance Designer

• Mentor, support and train the environment team in up-to-date methods and technical standards

• Support the development of material library

• Work with Art Director and other Leads to ensure materials are of correct Aesthetic

• Work with Tech art to refine material pipeline and feature set

What kind of professional are we looking for?

• Deep & highly proficient knowledge of Substance Designer

• Knowledge of PBR and physically based material standards

• High proficiency with Maya or similar

• Strong communication and mentoring skills

• Good eye for appropriate stylization and detail

• Able to produce materials in a wide variety of styles and themes

• Multiple shipped titles within the industry

• Knowledge of material optimization for real time engines

• Knowledge about material blending systems
